Designing

civic engagement and social impact solutions to help leading organizations meet the current moment

PRACTICE AREAS

SERVICES

VOTING RIGHTS & ELECTIONS BRIEFINGS

Reliable, relatable election information is at a premium in this age of media fragmentation and political polarization. Whether you're looking for insights into Supreme Court's latest ruling, an overview of the voting rights landscape, or a general state-of-the-race update, I provide accessible, engaging briefings and keynote addresses to C-Suites, board rooms, trade groups, and private clients.

POLITICAL DONOR STRATEGIES

When races are close, it takes more than maxing-out to your favorite candidate to get them elected. By leveraging more than a decade of insights gained as a trusted advisor to candidates and groups across the political ecosystem, I help create all-inclusive donor strategies to support the vast infrastructure of messaging, data/analytics, and voter protection organizations whose work often makes the difference between your candidate making a victory speech and a concession call.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT TOOL KITS

Today's stakeholders expect the organizations they engage with to lead with their values. I've partnered with the nation's largest companies, nonprofit organizations, and political campaigns to distribute accurate voting information, conduct effective voter registration drives and civic engagement programs, and implement workplace policies that champion democracy--all in ways that fit with each client's culture and protect the client's brand.

STRATEGIC PHILANTHROPY

The lessons I learned operating at the intersection of law, politics, and policy still guide my theory of philanthropy today: if there's an issue you care about, why limit yourself to solving it from just one angle? I develop investment plans designed to move the needle and create real change by spreading gifts across nonprofit organizations, elected leaders, policy advocacy, and even for-profit ventures.

NONPROFIT FORMATION AND SCALING

I've helped dozens of founders figure out whether their next idea should be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, a 501(c)(4), or a PAC, and I help them understand the steps needed to get off the ground. As organizations experience growing pains, boards ask me to coach and rehabilitate their executives, executives ask me to help re-design and re-engage their boards, and I work with both on strategic design processes to define the next chapter of an organization's mission.

PURPOSE & CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Let me help you see the whole board with fresh eyes. We'll identify the root causes of the societal challenges you seek to address, seek out meaningful partnerships and collaborations, and re-focus your mission around a set of values and purpose-driven programs that align with your stakeholders and tell your story in the most effective way possible.

OUR VISION

HOW I WORK

My theory of change is simple: the more you understand an issue, the more you'll want to help solve it. Understanding leads to action, and action leads to change.

I've worked with the nation's biggest companies, nonprofit organizations, and elected leaders to offer accessible, engaging analysis, using real-world examples and placing issues in historical context to build on-ramps for clients to engage in meaningful ways.

If there’s an area you want to impact, a program you want to launch, or a policy you want to implement, then I want to partner with you to understand the landscape and design a strategy that makes a difference.

A Critical Mass of Voters

A Critical Mass of Voters is my voting rights newsletter for an everyday audience. My goal is to use clear, accessible analysis and examples to explain the real-world impacts of the current legal attacks on democracy. Subscribing is the best way to stay up-to-date on what I'm reading and how I'm thinking about this current moment in America.
