I use my decades of experience at the intersections of election law, politics, government, and cultural impact to make it easy for organizations and individuals to engage in the current moment. Too often, politics is presented as a “one size fits all’ proposition, but I believe there’s a smart, effective pathway to civic engagement to match each client’s unique capabilities—whether you’re a changemaker, storyteller, coalition builder, or advocate.
I was born and raised on a family farm in rural Illinois. My early career included time in the music business, law school at Vanderbilt, and two years as a litigator at Latham & Watkins.
My political law and voting rights career began as an attorney in the Chicago headquarters of President Obama’s 2012 campaign. From there I joined the Perkins Coie Political Law Group, eventually becoming a partner in the firm. When the Political Law Group spun off and formed the Elias Law Group, I became one of the original founding partners of the nation’s largest mission-driven law firm.
As an election law attorney and now as a strategic advisor, I’ve worked with the nation’s most prominent elected officials, most innovative companies and leaders, and leading nonprofit organizations. In this high-stakes, high-profile arena, I pride myself on providing accessible analysis and practical solutions to help my clients meet their civic engagement, social impact, and philanthropic goals.
